Hello!
We would like to welcome you to the 2023 Workout Squash Club Championships! This yearly event pits club member vs club member to see who will be the club champion and take the prize of being put up on the club honours board in the bar!
The championship will take place over the next couple of months, with rounds played roughly every week. The semi-finals will be held on Wednesday 14th June at 7pm. And the finals will be held on Saturday 17th June at 4pm – with drinks and a free buffet to all entrants following the final.
This year we have three draws available (with plate competitions for first round losers):
- Woman’s
- Mixed A-Grade – Team Players (or >750 level on SquashLevels if not in a team (yet!))
- Mixed B-Grade – Non Team Players (or below 750 level on SquashLevels if not in a team (yet!)
We’ll openly admit that we’re not fully sure if the 750 level split is the right one, but we think it’s close. If you’re unsure of which one to enter – enter either and we’ll be looking at all the entries before doing the draw in order to try and get the fairest split of players, so that we all have as much fun as possible.
Matches will be best of 5 games, played PAR to 11. Initial rounds will be self marked, but we’ll have referees for the semi-finals and finals.
Once the draws are live, we’ll have roughly 1 week to 10 days to play each round’s match. We’ll ensure there’s good communications on the deadlines and the draws will be printed on the noticeboard by the courts. Please make every attempt to play your games. If for some reason it can’t be completed by the deadline, the higher ranked player will be put through.
We hope that the move away from a one weekend Monrad event enables more players to enter and will provide a great (fresh legged) finals afternoon on the Saturday for us all to enjoy. The Finals will be followed by drinks and the buffet in the bar. Additional Buffet tickets can be purchased for friends and family.
